About Me

My name is Julie, I have an adult son, he is my only child. I am married to Steve, a nurse. Steve aka "Mr iNZspire” as he works alongside with me, as my P.A, & Marketing Assistant just to name a couple, I am still working on his job description!! 

I came into the interior design industry after social work being my ‘trade’ for 20 years. After 20 years in social work, and 6 of those working in Tauranga hospital, I resigned in 2013 - mainly for personal reasons, but also because I was becoming disheartened with social work as it was no longer about social work, but discharge planning and targets - that is not what I trained and studied to do.

After resigning, I took some time out, to box off some social work professional development things that I wanted and needed to do, this took about 6 months to complete 
Once I had reached those goals, I then took some time out to reflect, some time for me, after 20 years of looking after others, (I was a single parent raising my half kiwi son) it was me time.

I have always had an interest in Interior Design, Architecture and anything else property related and have been buying property and design magazines for a few decades now. People often comment on my home and many said “you should do interior design”

My father (deceased) was in the Royal Air Force so we lived in a lot of RAF “married quarters” on the military camps - and I think that I have inherited my love of interior design from my Mum, as whilst an RAF wife, she never had a "home" it was an RAF house or flat and there were rules and regulations as to what she could and couldn’t do. Also, when I was raising my son, we lived in a lot of rental properties, again, lots of rules and regulations and a lot of "magnolia" painted walls. I think that must be why I love bold colours so much!! I don’t do "greige” (grey or beige)!!  However, as an interior designer working with my clients, I work with my clients wants and needs, likes and dislikes - to reach a solution that my clients are happy with.

My interests are travel, (must be the RAF gene!), photography, interior design, & cooking, pretty much anything where I can be creative or inspired.
